Samsung smart TVs

Playarr for Samsung Tizen.

The Tizen app packages Playarr's full TV interface, server pairing, remote navigation and AVPlay playback in a Samsung TV widget.

A WGT must carry valid Samsung/Tizen signatures for its target install path. The package button works only after a signed developer artifact is published; otherwise build with your own certificate profile below.

Samsung Developer Mode

Install Playarr on your Samsung TV

Use a 2023-or-newer Samsung television running Tizen 7.0 or newer, and keep it on the same local network as the computer. You need Tizen Studio with the Samsung TV extensions, a valid certificate profile and either a compatible signed WGT above or one you sign from source.

  1. Install the TV SDK and create a certificate

    Install Tizen Studio, then add the Samsung TV Extension, Samsung Certificate Extension and Web CLI in Package Manager. Create and activate a Samsung certificate profile; Tizen will not install an unsigned widget.

  2. Enable Developer Mode

    On the TV open Apps, then App Settings, and enter 12345. Turn Developer Mode on, enter the computer's local IP address, confirm and reboot the TV. Keep both devices on the same network.

  3. Build and sign the WGT

    Try the signed package download above first. If it is unavailable or its signature is not valid for your TV, build Playarr and package the dist directory with the exact active certificate profile name from Tizen Studio.

  4. Connect, install and launch

    Connect with SDB. In Tizen Studio Device Manager, right-click the connected TV and choose Permit to install applications. Use tizen list tv to find the CLI target name, then substitute the generated WGT filename, package directory and target name. Launch Playarr with its fixed application ID, scan its link code and choose your Playarr Server and household profile in Playarr.

Before you install

The WGT must stay signed and unchanged.

Tizen rejects unsigned or modified packages, and the certificate profile must permit the target TV. Playarr launches as StrmarrTV1.Playarr Server after installation. Treat this build as a developer preview until remote and AVPlay behaviour are validated on a supported real TV.

Developer packages are served only after a release artifact is published. Each client page also includes the dependable build-from-source and sideload path.
